DEPTH OF LANDSCAPE

Grounded in the existing architectural framework, the project re-establishes spatial order through the articulation of mass, sectional transitions, and calibrated proportions.

Rather than pursuing a formal reconstruction, the design adopts a subtractive approach within the given conditions—carefully mediating the relationships between light, materiality, and landscape—allowing the space to return to a more distilled and perceptual state.

Volumes are treated as primary spatial instruments. Through moments of recession, folding, and enclosure, the project constructs a gradient condition between openness and containment, enabling sightlines, circulation, and natural light to permeate the interior with measured continuity.

The material strategy is rooted in restraint and continuity. Wood veneer retains its organic grain and subtle tonal variation, revealing a discernible sense of temporality across surfaces; natural stone introduces a stable tectonic presence through its mineral texture and inherent material weight; hand-applied finishes, with their low-reflective matte quality, establish a quiet and continuous background plane that softens unnecessary visual noise.

Light is conceived as an integral component of the spatial composition rather than a supplementary condition. Natural light moves along vertical planes, ceilings, and volumetric edges, reinforcing spatial depth and tectonic definition through the shifting presence of shadow and illumination. Beyond the interior, the surrounding mountain landscape is incorporated as an extension of the spatial field, allowing exterior scenery and interior perception to form a continuous experiential relationship.
